Monastics in an orderly line before encountering the crowds. Perhaps 15,000 people lined the streets of Bao Loc to offer food to the monastics. Before the walk began Thay spoke about the tradition of interdependence between the monastic and lay sangha, which goes back to the time of the Buddha. Select the picture to view other pictures posted on flicker.com. Thay began with the monastics but shortly into the walked was mobbed by those wanting the extra merit of offering him food. After a tense moment of pushing, a vehicle was dispatched and Thay was driven off. There was much happiness and food during this interchange between the fourfold community.
